Robert Gregory Ellett

Here is a little insight into our dear friend’s story…

Robert Gregory Ellett, “Buster” (69), passed away on Sunday August 16, 2020 in his home in Colorado Springs, CO with his wife, Rue, and their two dogs (Ms. Nellie & Mr. Enoch).

He was born on June 25, 1951 in San Francisco, California. On June 28, 1968 at the young age of 17, Robert joined the army and promptly served in Vietnam. While stationed in Italy in 1975, he welcomed his son Gregory into this world. After dedicating 22 years of his life to his country, he retired on November 30, 1990. He retired as Sergeant First Class E-7. He went on to pursue a second career of 20 years at the Colorado Springs Waste Water Management. In 1980 he welcomed two more children into his life, Karen (3) and John (7). As a young man, Robert enjoyed boating, water skiing, and his motorcycle.

In 2008 he met the final love of his life, Rue Gallegos. While they were dating, Robert, at the age of 58, retired for the final time. Then on February 7, 2011 they were married. Robert enjoyed accompanying his wife on outdoor adventures, taking his “girl” Ms. Nellie on hikes, and tending to his Koi fish in his backyard pond. Sundays, however, were reserved for church and football. Robert was a quiet, reserved, humble, and generous man. He was a Christian and held bible studies in his home. His battle with cancer only drew him closer to his Lord.

Robert is survived by his wife, Rue; his mother, Donna; his siblings, Kymberly and Kris; his children, Greg and Karen; his six grandchildren, Ainsley, Ava, Amelie, Caden, Ilyana and Louis Jr.

Robert’s favorite scripture: Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and “learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:29-30
